【恶日 / Duanwu】


依据夏历，仲夏五月，日在東井。其时大抵对应太阳历的夏至，日照最长，而五月五日正是「阳气极于上之日」，是「恶日」，要避邪、禳毒、驱疫。后来端午节的诸多习俗，大都源于恶日禁忌。


The Dragon Boat Festival, also often known as the Tuen Ng or Duanwu Festival, is a traditional and statutory holiday originating in China.The festival now occurs on the 5th day of the 5th month of the traditional lunar calendar, the source of its alternative name, the Double Fifth Festival. The sun is considered to be at its strongest around the time of summer solstice, as the daylight in the northern hemisphere is the longest. The sun, like the Chinese dragon, traditionally represents masculine energy, whereas the moon, like the phoenix, traditionally represents feminine energy. The summer solstice is considered the annual peak of male energy while the winter solstice, the longest night of the year, represents the annual peak of feminine energy. The masculine image of the dragon was thus naturally associated with Duanwu.




【巫音 / Wu-Yin】


巫音又称神歌，是巫觋祭神的乐歌，发源于巴楚之地，流传已数千年。其曲调庄严肃穆，诡谲怪异，并伴以古朴神秘的舞蹈，集祈福、表演、祭祀于一体。屈原曾以巫音为基础，编写《九歌》。随着巫风祭祀衰落，巫音逐渐被世人淡忘，濒临失传。


在某种意义上，巫音正是上古时期的诗歌、舞蹈、实验与迷幻音乐。而今天的「草寺夏日祭」活动，则正是我们这个时代的巫音。




Wu-Yin（Witch Music）, also known as the God song, originated in the region of Ba-Chu. It sets the blessing, performance and worship together. Wu-Yin spreads among the people in Wushan as a kind of traditional worship music, with a history of more than 1000 years.
However today, the ancient tradition of offering sacrifices has been gradually declined, Wu-Yin is on the verge of extinction.


Perhaps, Wu-Yin is exactly a kind of experimental and psychedelic music in ancient times, and the poetry, dance. In view of this，we organize the Chaosit Summer Festival today.


【草寺 / CHAOSIT】


「草寺」是一间神秘草料工坊，隐居着一些怪异居士。他们或游四海，尝百草，或闭禅门，研草料，寻味并刻写一些具有独特美学意义的符号。这些符号势必成为后人追溯我们这个时代的记忆坐标，就像今天的我们谈论起竹林之游与魏晋风流、爱之夏与嬉皮士运动、4AD与另类音乐浪潮。


CHAOSIT is not only a music lab，but a culture label. They dedicated themselves to inscribe symbols with special aesthetical meaning. Those symbols will be a mark of our era, for the later generation to retrospect. Just like nowadays we talk about the Summer of Love with the hippie movement, or the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove with the Wei-Jin Style.

——作为一个建筑师和新兴画家，她今年4月在北京罗马尼 亚文化中心举办了个人画展。她对水墨的运用让人想起传统中国绘画， 但进一步欣赏后，作品却展露出全新和原创的技法，画面感官器质的表 象耐人寻味地描绘出更多隐藏的信息。图像创造性的把思想投入于对印 象的搜寻，每个人都能从画面中看到不同的东西，通过这种方式，与作 品的交流对于作者和观赏者都变成了极其个人的体验。对于作者，这是 表达对未知恐惧对抗的挣扎，对于观赏者，这些绘画变成了他们自己潜 意识的镜子。

Artist Biography: An architect and recently a painter, she opened her first solo exhibition this year in April at the Romanian Cultural Institute in Beijing. Her use of ink reminds us of the traditional Chinese paintings, but a closer look reveals a totally new and original technique. Intriguing in their appearance the paintings depict organic compositions that hold hidden messages. The pictures created put the mind in search for images, and each person sees something else in them. In this way the paintings become personal both for the painter and for the viewer. What for the painter is a struggle to express her fight with the fear of the unknown, for the viewer becomes a mirror into their own subconscious.

——一支新迷幻（Neo-Psychedelia)/另类摇滚（Alternative Rock)乐队。亦受到自赏（Shoegaze）和后摇（Post-rock）等风格的影响。
五个青年尝试着用包裹着潜意识的音墙，情绪化的表现力，以及游离的吟唱和诗歌，营造一个神秘的空间。去承载宇宙，古老的东西，生与死，使你沉溺的和自我分裂的玩意儿。绝望和希望交错在音符的回荡里，像是虚幻，却又真实。

SOLARIS is a Neo-Psychedelia/Alternative Rock band,which also influenced by Shoegaze and Post Rock.The name of SOLARIS is likewise known as a planet in the science fiction by Stannislaw Lem.In the story,the human visitors' probing and examining the oceanic surface of planet Solaris are, in turn, being studied by the sentient planet itself.Solaris has the ability to manifest visitors' secret and guilty concerns.By blending the subconscious sound wall ,emotional expression and poetic singing the Solaris five young artists attempt to exploit a space for the ancientness,the universe,the life,the death,the immersive and the drift away. The music reverberate between hope and hopeless,likewise the feeling concurrent in real and virtual.


公羊镇/ AMON TOWN


——2010年于天津初现雏形，之后一头扎进那些烟雾缭绕的年代里自娱自乐；2012年正式更名为“公羊镇”乐队，这些天生愚笨的人们，妄图坐在一起，围成个架势，就能与远在另一个世界的人们获得某种精神联系，他们讨论着欧洲民谣、酸性、迷幻、传统摇滚，妄图将这些器官全部装进自己的黄皮肤里，然而一切没那么简单。自大、懒散、多疑、诡诈、怯懦、惊慌、忿戾、消极、沉寂。接受既得现实后又不断自我否定，正在逐渐形成另一副嘴脸。经过漫长的杳无音信后，这些神出鬼没的人们终于拆掉了篱笆、拍了拍头上的土，慢悠悠得走了出来。
The Amon town, the band  first shape was build  2010 in Tianjin, then everyone just went to the year that filled with steam and smoke，recreate by themselves. At 2012 officially change it's name to"The Amon town". these people  think themselves born dumb ,but staying together could with the people from another world for spiritual connection. They talked old european folk,Psychedelic Acid Rock and classic rock. They're also trying to put all these organ into their yellow skin. But is not that easy. Arrogant, lazy, paranoid, deceit, cowardice, panic, his crime, negative, and silence. Accept the reality but then still constantly self-denial. Are gradually became another face.
After a long time silence, these people finally pulled down the fence, patted soil on their head, slowly walked out.


石狮子 / STONE LIONS
——石狮子于2011年组建成立于天津。乐队风格初期在hard rock与grunge之间难以界定，随着乐队成员不断调整，新成员为乐队带来更多声音的可能性，在决不重复自己的情况下，风格更加多元化blues，niose，shoegazing，bluegrass均有涉猎，并在舞台上整体呈现美式Alternative乐队气质。


The Stone Lion is a band formed in Tianjin, 2011. It is hard to define its style between hard rock and grunge at the beginning. With the constant adjustments of band's members, the fresh blood has brought to the band more possibilities on their voice. Refusing to repeat themselves, they demonstrated a wide range of music styles including blues, noise, shoegazing, blue grass, and their stage performance reveals the hint of spirit of American Alternative.

——于2012年成立，致力于即兴氛围音乐的开放探索。乐队4名成员擅以各自的特点在不同的现场默契协作，游走于暗黑／氛围／迷幻（dark/ambient/psychedelic vibes）以及多种风格之间。
声音雕塑演出现场从不自我设限，近年来更活跃于艺术空间、画廊演出，以及为无声电影和肢体舞蹈现场配乐等。


started in 2012 as an open project of improvised ambient music.
The band started around the 4 members but featuring often collaborations for each show.
Sound Sculpture moves among different genres but with constant dark/ambient/psychedelic vibes.
The live performances are oriented in multiple directions and in the last years played mostly in art spaces and galleries, and also performing live soundtracks for silent movies and with dance performers.




飞椒/ PEPPERCORNS
——迷幻，根源，实验，后朋？这是一个很 难用一种特定风格去定义的乐队。毋庸置疑的是来自六七十年代艺术摇滚的影响，在保有旋律性的同时进行一些新奇又古老的探索。复古的吉他段落与70年代模拟合成器之音升起又坠落。轰鸣！激荡！有些情感难以理解却又暗潮汹涌炙热强烈，如同所有叹息困惑与不眠的夜。


The Peppercorns is a band that plays heavy psychedelic rock music rooted in a classic 70's style, drawing inspiration from prog and art rock. The band is guitar heavy with experimental synth however their songs still maintain a pop sensibility. Fronted by Edog Wonderlogg II with Kangaroo Zhong on guitar, Brain on drums, and Yan Von3000 on bass. Get ready for helicopters, paratroopers, and atomic lizards.

我们的创作，试图探讨这样一种悖论：一种存在于自然界之外，又绝望地置身其中的矛盾状态。自古而今, 人类深明生命的规律，但无力突破其局限的悲剧，由此生成各种式样的有趣体系 -- 文化、社会、信仰、价值观、哲学和生活方式 -- 从粗暴愚昧至荒唐可笑，可谓无奇不有。作为对自身困境独具清醒意识的个体，我们相信以艺术的手段来对时间、空间、偶然性、虚无、生物生命、衰退和死亡进行存在主义的探究，不仅合理且诱人。令我们着迷的正是那些为使我们能够继续生活下去而时常被歪曲、被包裹在虚无的幻象之中，最后又被虚掷的事物。那些无标准答案的终极问题（如死亡），或由于我们自身认知局限而无法完全用科学或理性的方式领会的事物，则是我们作品的主题。相比精确地理性认知我们的创作意图，我们更期望我们的作品能够唤起观者情感和心灵层面的个体反应。


We are interested in addressing the paradox of being out of the nature and at the same time hopelessly in it. The tragedy of being aware of the paradigm of life and not being able to overcome it has generated interesting fabrications like cultures, societies, beliefs, values, philosophies and lifestyles ranging from outrageous to ridiculous throughout the history. The artistic approach to the existential investigations on time, space, contingency, nothingness, biological life, decay and death, is a legit and seductive approach from our position of condemned conscious beings. The things that are most of the time distorted, wrapped in futile illusions and tossed away in order for us to go on with our daily lives intrigue us. The things that are ambiguous, that cannot be totally grasped in a scientific and rational way because they are painfully inconvenient (like death) or because of our intellectual limitations, are the subjects of our works.
We are hoping that our works will arouse personal reactions in the viewer’s mind and heart while the intellectual effort of precisely understanding the author’s intentions is far less important.

大卫：武术表演/ McDavid，a KUNG FU Master.
——他获得过数不清的 Freestyle Battle 冠军头衔，他是崔健最喜欢的说唱歌手。大卫，绝对的疯逼一个。是武术老师，诗人，影像工作者，历史评论员，文化激进分子，疯狂说唱者。
他像一个同时自我复制又自我反对的拄杖教父，在破布与华服、疲惫与矍铄的极端中，甩着双节棍肆意穿梭。
